How B17 Treatment (Laetrile Therapy) Works

Also known as amygdalin, B17 is a compound present in different parts of a fruit’s anatomy and within specific raw nuts, including an apricot pit, an apple seed, a plum pit, a bitter almond, or a macadamia nut. Purified, partly synthetic forms of amygdalin known as laetrile have been used in alternative cancer treatment varieties since the 1800s.

Purified amygdalin is converted into hydrogen cyanide in the body, and hydrogen cyanide is believed to be able to isolate and attack a cancerous cell, while leaving normal cells unharmed. Clinical trials have found that laetrile cancer therapy may inhibit the growth of primary tumors, prevent metastasis, and destroy cancer cells as a result of its toxicity. Benzaldehyde, a product of amygdalin when it’s broken down in the body, has also been studied for its potential anticancer activity in targeting cancer cells, without harming normal, healthy cells.

How B17 (Laetrile Therapy) is Administered

Laetrile treatment can be given by intravenous injection or through muscle tissue (intramuscularly). With most forms of B17 treatment for cancer patients, the is first administered intravenously, followed by oral ingestion as a form of maintenance therapy.

For most cancer patients, laetrile therapy is most often combined with a metabolic therapy program, which may include a high dose of supplements, a special diet, and pancreatic enzymes.
