El cáncer de vulva es un tipo de cáncer poco común que sólo se da en las mujeres. Existen pocos tipos de cáncer de vulva, y muchos presentan síntomas en las primeras etapas.
¿Dónde se encuentra el cáncer de vulva?
La vulva es la abertura de la vagina y está compuesta de cuatro partes primarias:
- Abertura vaginal
- Labios mayores (labios externos)
- Labios menores (labios internos)
- Clítoris
Las células cancerosas de la vulva suelen impactar los labios menores, pero en raras ocasiones comienzan en el tejido del clítoris.
¿Cómo impacta a su cuerpo?
Las células anormales asociadas con el cáncer de vulva tienden a afectar a la vagina. Una vez el cáncer se extiende, las células se mueven naturalmente hacia otras regiones del cuerpo. En etapas posteriores, puede extenderse a lo largo de otros tejidos del cuerpo y dañar tanto los órganos cercanos como los distantes. Por ejemplo, el cáncer de vulva puede extenderse y convertirse en un cáncer linfático o generar daño cervical.
¿Existen diferentes tipos de cáncer de vulva?
El cáncer de vulva es un tipo de cáncer poco común en comparación con otros tipos de cáncer, pero existen cuatro tipos primarios.
Estos son:
- Carcinoma de células escamosas – La gran mayoría de los cánceres vulvares comienzan en las células escamosas de la piel. Hay varios subtipos de células escamosas, y todos requieren terapia, incluyendo:
- Queratinización
- Basaloid
- Carcinoma vérrucoso
- Adenocarcinoma – Aproximadamente el 8% de todos los cánceres vulvares comienzan en las células de las glándulas de Bartolino. A menudo se ve idéntico a un quiste.
- Melanoma – Aproximadamente el 6% de todos los cánceres vulvares comienzan en estas células productoras de pigmento.
- Sarcoma – Menos del 2% de todos los cánceres vulvares comienzan aquí.
Estadísticas del cáncer de vulva
Según la Sociedad Americana del Cáncer, el cáncer de vulva representa un 0,7% de todos los cánceres que desarrollan las mujeres. Una mujer en los EE.UU. tiene una probabilidad de 1/333 de desarrollarlo, lo que se traduce en unos 6.000 casos por año.
Causas y factores de riesgo
Se desconoce la causa del cáncer de vulva. Sin embargo, de acuerdo con los ensayos clínicos, sabemos que ciertos factores pueden aumentar el riesgo de que se desarrolle. Estos incluyen:
- Edad: es más común en mujeres de más de 70 años.
- VPH – Se ha demostrado que el virus del papiloma humano tiene vínculos con el cáncer de vulva.
- Fumar – Aumenta el riesgo de desarrollar cualquier tipo de cáncer, incluyendo el de vulva.
- VIH – El daño al sistema inmunológico aumenta la probabilidad de que las células anormales se asienten en el tejido normal.
Detección temprana, diagnóstico y estadios
Signos y síntomas del cáncer de vulva
A diferencia de muchos otros tipos de cáncer, el cáncer de vulva se manifiesta a menudo con síntomas notables desde el principio. Estos incluyen:
- Sangrado anormal
- Descarga anormal
- Golpe o bulto en la vulva que parece una verruga
- Quemando
- Una parte de la vulva de diferente color
- Picazón
- Herida abierta
- Dolor
- Engrosamiento de la piel de la vulva
Las diferentes etapas del cáncer de vulva
Prácticamente todos los cánceres se califican en una escala de 0 a 4. Las etapas del cáncer de vulva son:
- Etapa 0 – Carcinoma in situ, un pequeño tumor potencialmente maligno o benigno se forma. Una biopsia podrá distinguir si el bulto contiene células cancerosas.
- Etapa I – Un tumor de menos de 2 cm está en la vulva o el perineo. No se ha extendido a los ganglios linfáticos o a regiones distantes fuera de la región vaginal.
- Etapa II – Un tumor de cualquier tamaño que crece en el ano o en el tercio inferior de la uretra. Aún no se ha extendido a los nódulos linfáticos o al tejido normal de otras partes del cuerpo.
- Etapa III – Un tumor está en la vulva o el perineo (o ambos). Puede crecer en el ano, la parte baja de la vagina o la parte baja de la uretra. Se ha extendido a uno o dos nódulos linfáticos locales, pero no ha llegado a otras partes del cuerpo.
- Etapa IV – El tumor se encuentra en la vulva o el perineo (o ambos). Puede crecer en el ano, la parte inferior de la vagina o la parte inferior de la uretra. Se ha extendido a los nódulos linfáticos locales y ha creado una úlcera. También puede haberse extendido a regiones distantes.

He has worked as a Director for alternative medicine hospitals. Early in his career, Dr. Bautista became interested in alternative cancer therapy and treatments and has studied alternative treatments extensively around the world.

Costs and Travel Arrangements
A typical three-week treatment program costs $18,995USD, and includes all therapies, diagnostics, and a healthy, organic, breakfast and lunch (+2 juices/smoothies) Monday – Saturday. Room and other board, travel costs, surgeries, and blood transfusions are not included. Some very specific therapies may not be included. Depending on your stage and condition, you may need six weeks of treatment or more.

We accept major credit cards (some fees may apply), personal and cashier’s checks, wire transfers, and cash. You can also easily PAY ONLINE.
Airfare is not included in the program cost; however, transfers to and from the airport (Tijuana or San Diego) and transportation between our center and your hotel are included.
You may fly into Tijuana, Mexico or San Diego, California. Wewill make arrangements to meet and pick you up at either airport. We are only 25 minutes from the San Diego International Airport. You may also drive to the center. When you schedule your treatment, we will provide detailed driving directions.

If you are undergoing outpatient treatment, you will need to stay in a local hotel or other lodging option during your treatment. We are located near several quality hotels in Tijuana, and have arranged special rates for our patients.
