How Salinomycin IV Works
Salinomycin was initially developed as an antibacterial and anti-coccidial drug that was isolated from the Streptomyces albus bacteria. Recent studies have shown that the drug may possess anti-cancer properties. Research understands that cancer stem cells play a significant role in the initiation and self-renewal of a tumor, as well as the ability to encourage the heterogeneous lineage of malignant human cancer cells. However, targeting cancer stem cells can prove difficult as they are capable of creating therapy-resistant clone cells that through metastasis can duplicate with increasing concentrations. Evidence shows that salinomycin treatment may effectively eradicate cancer stem cells while overcoming cancer cells that have become resistant to chemotherapeutic drugs and other common treatments.
How Salinomycin IV is Administered
Salinomycin is administered to cancer patients via intravenous injection. Salinomycin treatment can be administered on its own, but it also has the potential to make cancer cells sensitive to other forms of treatment, allowing for a better response when used in conjunction with other therapies. Intravenous administration of salinomycin at doses of 200 to 250 μg/kg−1 every second day for a period of three weeks was found to reduce cell viability and tumor metastasis. The exact dosage and interval of administration depends on the severity of your cancer and your personal needs. Research shows that salinomycin is generally safe in terms of treating human cancer and has minimal side effects.
